ISM ABCD Award Winners

ISMers who have gone above and beyond their job duties can be nominated by their colleagues for an Above and Beyond the Call of Duty (ABCD) award. These awards are given to individuals for taking on extra responsibility, excelling in a certain area, receiving positive customer service reviews, or simply adding cheer to the office when cheer is in need.

This month, four people were awarded with gift cards for their dedication and excellence—Scott Stephenson from the IT Department, and Leanne Erney, Rashida Simmons, and Terri Preston from the Business Office. Congratulations, everyone!

SwiftScan

ISM developers were tasked with creating an app that would allow I&P readers to experience their subscription in a whole new, exciting way. Numerous ideas were tossed about, and in the end, SwiftScan™ was created.

SwiftScan is ISM’s QR code scanner solution, which allows you access to Ideas & Perspectives on your iPad—it’s your key to electronic I&P! Here’s how it works.

To access I&P on your iPad, you will need two pieces of software—SwiftScan and iBooks. (Both are available free on Apple’s App store.) You will first need to download SwiftScan to scan the QR code printed on the back of each print copy of I&P. You will also need iBooks. (iBooks is included with any new iPad as the default ePub reader and should not need to be downloaded.) Once you are sure you have both of these pieces of software, the rest is a piece of cake.

• Open SwiftScan and click the camera icon at the bottom of the screen.
  
  
• Use the viewfinder guides to help you center the QR code.
  
  
• SwiftScan will take a snapshot of the QR code and prompt you to open the file in iBooks.
  
  
• Select OPEN in iBooks. The file will be downloaded and automatically added to your iBooks application.
