So the Foundation has launched LIVESTRONG at School, an adaptable curriculum that offers free, online age-appropriate lessons and supporting materials for students in grade 3-12. The curriculum embraces national standards and features learning objectives, videos, extension activities, and understanding checks. The program also features a special episode of the popular Arthur cartoon series —“In ‘The Great MacGrady,” Arthur and his friends deal with the cancer diagnosis of their favorite lunch lady—with the help of Lance Armstrong.”
“We want students to know that cancer is not a death sentence, and that cancer survivors can experience a high quality of life, and even achieve greatness,” says Armstrong in the online introductory video. “This program is intended to give every student the opportunity to learn about cancer survivorship and what it means to truly live strong.”
