Wrap the eggs with the pieces of the ties you've cut off and secure them with yarn or rubber bands. You can also twist the ends (like a candy wrapper) and tie those off.
Boil the wrapped eggs for about 20 minutes with a tablespoon of vinegar, and then let them cool off. When you remove the ties, each egg will have the tie pattern stained unto the shell. Kids all ages will be amazed!
You can also re-use the ties next year if you'd like.
The patterns from the silk ties will make an interesting addition to ordinary Easter baskets. And if you'd like to take craft time to the next level, you can preserve the eggs by making small holes in both ends and allowing the insides to dribble out. You can also use a hair dryer to blow out the yolk and whites.
