At this writing, it is too early to tell for sure what will happen. For the time being, we recommend that school’s plan as if PPACA will be implemented as it is currently constructed. That is, we strongly encourage all schools to meet with your insurance broker/carrier to determine how the new law affects your plans – and what steps are necessary at this time. Your broker can advise you regarding the advisability of seeking “grandfathered” protection from changes for your plan; the ways in which coverage is expanding (such as the provision to cover dependents up to age 26, regardless of their student or marital status) and most immediately, when specific provisions will come into play for your particular plan.
