Holidays are a great time to practice green options. From decorations to ghoulish night alternatives, there are thousands of creative green options available. Here are a few we found online.

Green Classroom Crafts

Pinterest is a great place to start looking for spooky green craft ideas. You’re bound to find not just one or two ideas, but boards upon boards full! Kids Crafts: Halloween by Kiboomu Kids has built one with everything from snack ideas to cute Kindergarten crafts.

From crafts to costumes Kaboose dedicates a whole area of their site to Halloween Crafts. Our favorite: Faux Stained Glass Pumpkin Window Hanger.

Not as spooky but just as cute, Green Halloween’s article Best Not-So-Scary Halloween Themes for Small Children has some great ideas for holiday themed crafts.

Green Treat Alternatives

Best Buys and Healthy Alternatives to Conventional Halloween Candy from The Green Samaritan. This article suggests giving out some treats from nature such as painted acorns, seashells, and coins instead of candy. However, for the conventionalist, it also lists some organic treats with links to online vendors.

Halloween Takes on a Shade of Eco-Friendly Green by MSN mentions everything from green treat bags to candy alternatives.

Green Your Halloween by Green America shares the excitement of candy alternatives from a child’s perspective. But, it doesn’t stop there. This article also mentions greener face-painting options, recycling costumes, and how to throw a spooky green party.

For those not interested in the traditional door-to-door trick-or-treating, Fun Halloween Alternatives to Trick-Or-Treating published by Mother Nature Network offers some alternatives.

Looking for some scary entertainment for Halloween night? 10 Frighteningly Green Halloween Movies from The Alternative Consumer offers a nice combination of classics that still hold their shock value.

Infuse Halloween with education! Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and Green Halloween have partnered with communities to provide animal-friendly events for families. There are 50 participating locations nationwide.
