Crumpled and lost assignments—the bane of teachers’, parents’, and students’ existence. If you are using smart devices in your school, though, that circus could be leaving town!

Three Ring is almost here. Three Ring is a smart device app that lets teachers take photos or videos of student work and manage the work online via a “filing system” they set up. They create classes, label assignments, and even comment on assignments. Even better, teachers can search for work by student name, instead of flipping through papers.

Three Ring is still in beta form, but nearly 2,000 teachers in New York, Delaware, and Maryland currently have access to the app, according to Mashable.com.

A typical problem for a student is that teachers do not communicate with each other—and the student ends up overloaded and overwhelmed. Three Ring breaks down the silos—all teachers can share access to a student’s work across the board. Every teacher can see the student’s overall progress, strengths, and weakness. Work and workload can be coordinated.

Michael Lindsay, one of the Three Ring creators, reported that Three Ring is like a digital filing system and provides a digital record of a student’s work.

“It takes hours to create your own filing system, and Three Ring can be a huge time saver. We allow teachers to bring that kind of work online quickly and accurately,” Lindsay told Mashable.
