Does your cell phone play a major role in your daily routine? Have you become as dependent on its apps to keep connected while on the go as you have your computer while you’re in the office? Here are some apps that are dedicated to making the lives of educators a little easier:

Evernote—An iPhone app that helps users capture video and audio, and then sync it to other devices. Evernote works with nearly every computer, phone, and mobile device out there, and has a fast search feature that helps you find what you need without endless file hunting. It’s an ultimate note pad that helps users remember everything, forget nothing, and share their discoveries with as many or as few people as needed.

Flash Me—Another iPhone app. However, this one is designed to help students get ready for their next big test. Powered by Cramberry, Flash Me is a flashcard app. Users can download free sets of public flashcards, or can customize their own. Topics cover nearly every subject, from employee benefits to SAT vocabulary. Now, students can study on the go!

Mathematical Formulas—This is another student-focused app. It’s a library of mathematical formulas. What’s neat about this one, though, is that it supports TV-out so teachers and/or students can share formulas on a large screen for presentations.

Love Art: National Gallery, London— This app is great for history, art, and social science teachers as well as students. It blends visual screenshots of some of the world’s greatest masterpieces with audio interpretations of the history behind each piece. It includes 250 works with audio, video, zoomable high-resolution images, theme grouping, and image galleries.

Molecules—This app will quickly become a science teacher’s new favorite. It generates 3-D rendering of molecules, and allows manipulation with the touch of a finger. New molecules can be downloaded from either RCSB Protein Data Bank (http://www.rcsb.org/pdb/home/home.do), or NCBI’s PubChem (http://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/).
