Do the Work: Help BIPOC Staff & Students Develop Positive Racial Identities

Give students and staff the tools to construct positive racial identities built on an inclusive, supportive school environment.

Racial identity development is a process every BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, people of color) student or staff member will navigate throughout their lives. Each individual must answer the questions:

  • “How do others perceive me?”
  • “How do I identify myself?”

It’s your job as a school leader to understand how an individual's racial identity is developed and help your community members construct their responses in a positive way.

If that sounds overwhelming, you’re not alone. Join us to explore models for developing positive racial identity and discover how to align them with your school’s diversity efforts. Leave the session with concrete steps and strategies!
