Supporting International K–12 Students: Physical and Emotional Care in the U.S.

International K–12 students face unique circumstances as they manage to learn in a different country, living away from home. This population is especially susceptible to anxiety, depression, and other emotional health challenges.

To add to that, “rates of clinically significant anxiety and depression can be as high as six times the national norm in many high-achieving schools, where children’s mental health is severely affected by ongoing, ubiquitous, and unrelenting pressure to achieve.”

When students need physical or emotional care, it's up to their advocates to offer support and help them make the right health choices for themselves. Join Evelyn Duvivier, MD-MPH, Medical Director, GeoBlue, and Elliott Gougeon, Ph.D., Manager, International Compliance and Vendor Management, GeoBlue, to explore how schools and host families can help international students as they learn to navigate the complexities of the U.S. health care system. We’ll also shed light on the health and well-being challenges of international K–12 students.
