Building a Leadership Giving Program Through the Annual Fund
Most schools have an annual fund, but few have a clearly defined leadership giving program within it. Without intentional structure, leadership-level giving can stagnate, rely on a small number of loyal donors, or lack clarity around expectations, recognition, and growth. Too often, schools focus on participation or short-term dollars without examining how leadership giving supports long-term philanthropic capacity.
Participants will learn how to analyze their current annual fund performance, assess leadership giving levels, clarify the Board’s role, and improve data tracking and reporting. The webinar will demonstrate how to grow both participation and gift size by setting realistic goals for leadership giving and implementing targeted tactics. This framework positions the annual fund as a pipeline to major and planned giving rather than a standalone effort. We’ll also address how to establish and manage a Leadership Gifts Committee within your annual fund cabinet — ensuring clear volunteer roles, accountability, and peer-driven engagement at the leadership level.
