The Employment Law Guide is a key resource for small businesses, and those without a dedicated legal or human resources staff. Written in an easy to understand, plain-English format, it helps employers develop wage, benefit, salary and health, and no-discrimination policies—which are especially important to have updated during our current hard times.

The guide also now includes a section on child labor regulations pertaining to certain industries.

Also, if you're not familiar with the FirstStep Overview Advisor, the Employment Law Guide is its companion. The FirstStep Overview Advisor is an online system that allows employers to quickly and easily determine which federal employment laws apply to them. By answering a few online questions, you'll be able to see which federal laws apply to your school—which you need to enforce to assure your institution is a safe and fair work place.
